WP佈景主題Atahualpa中使用WP-PostRatings

常常看見一般部落格文章都有星等評價，於是找了Lester ‘GaMerZ’ Chan貢獻的WP-PostRatings外掛，安裝與啟用都很簡單，不需要另外說明，重灌狂人也寫了相當詳細的教學文件，麻煩的是配置與設定，往往都需要去更動佈景主題的檔案，而且是要寫php程式碼，不是很友善，要是換了佈景主題是不是又要改一遍呢？

這類的技術文件永遠寫不完，因為佈景主題設計方式不同，介面語系也可能不同，再加上外掛版本會演進，WordPress主程式也會更新，你看到『不來恩』文章的畫面很可能與你不同，至少跟我的就不一樣，概念大致相通，但臭蟲隨時都可能出現，盡管WordPress提供了相容性的資訊，不過很難第一時間更新，只有你自己試了才知道^^”，目前外掛版本1.50與目前WP版本2.9.2，從右圖看來就知道資料不足，無法判斷相容性！

使用Atahualpa 3佈景主體的好處是，選項配置已經支援WP-PostRatings，只要將%wp-postratings%字串填入想要的配置參數內即可。

步驟

刪除 “Ratings Vote Text:” 中的
%RATINGS_TEXT% 字串
刪除 “Ratings Nont:” 中的
%RATINGS_TEXT% 字串
變更 Page/Post Info Items 選項
 Post Info Items / BYLINE" width="150" height="150" />
點擊 “Save Changes”

WP-Syntax & CodeColorer

多數的程式語法格式化插件都是基於GeSHi專案延伸而來，WP-Syntax也不例外，之前編寫Wiki文件時就已經習慣這樣的格式化功能，程式人的部落格站台裡沒有這樣的套件還挺困擾的呢！老實說有些語言格式化預設樣式並不是很討喜，偏偏我不太有美感，也懶得去改CSS，理想是能顯示出 TextMate IR_Black theme 風格，另一套 CodeColorer也很類似，算是WP-Syntax的加強版，標籤額外控制參數較多。不過兩者似乎不能並存，暫時先用CodeColorer看看。目前遇到的問題是，預覽完程式碼縮排會不見！可能是Visual/HTML編輯模式交替使用，解析器自動將某些字元轉換之故。

使用ruby測試，使用blackboard樣式，去掉水平捲軸，加上行號，設定寬度480，奇怪的是在Firefox中上下會多出黑色框，作者的網站卻不會出現，不知道是樣式問題還是？

WP-Termial

如果要表現命令列語法呢？mismone提供了WP-Terminal插件。用法很簡單，但有時候不想顯示提示字元，也不知道怎樣關掉？

現在的部落格文章除了圖文並茂，分享相簿也是很常見的功能。Willis說使用Flickr有容量限制，既然都自己買主機服務了，應該可以突破這個限制，只不過預設wordpress沒有相簿功能，得依賴外掛。看了好幾套，覺得nextgen-gallery還不錯，就研究看看吧。

花一點時間就可以上手，值得推薦。目前為止的缺憾就是受限於PHP檔案上傳大小與可用記憶體限制，必須將來源檔全部resize，實在麻煩呀！

installation

安裝上沒有多大問題，WP的外掛安裝很方便，應該不用多作描述。

Concept

一開始比較不容易理解的是ablum與gallery的差異，中文翻成相本與相簿實在很難知道差異，gallery可解釋成美術館, 藝廊, 照相館等等，就好比iPhoto裡的『事件』，概念也類似素材庫，是一切照片上傳的開始，album解釋成相簿沒多大問題，通常是針對特定主題或人物，挑選特定的照片集合而成。例如，『女兒的成長相簿』，可能擷取自『2009/4 台中醫院誕生』，『 2009/5 坐月子』等事件照片。

watermark

nggallery提供浮水印功能。由於還沒有自己專屬的浮水印，因此使用文字內容當作浮水印，再讓程式將效果套用到相片內，就好像蓋章一樣，但請小心，這直接改變你上傳的檔案。如果事後變更了圖樣或是文字，重新套用可就不妙了。Oops~我就不小心套用兩次，左下角與右下角都出現watermark >”<

slideshow

幻燈片秀必須搭配JW Image Rotator flash元件。3.18版，轉場似乎都會出現jwplayer字樣遮罩，我試著換成較早一版3.17就沒有這個問題。

用在商業網站的效果也不錯，Austin Cake Ball 上面令人垂涎的巧克力球幻燈片，就是使用這個flash元件。

Meta & Tag

每張圖片都可以寫metadata，照片多的時候，編寫起來會有點煩。另外nggallery也支援標籤，方便事後作搜尋集合。

Sidebar Widget

這個側邊小元件可以隨機顯示相簿內的照片，預設是四張。設定項目相當精細，除了可修改顯示數量，還可以設定使用哪些gallery相片。

Best Practices For Posting?

我還搞不懂WordPress後台裡Pages與Posts有何不同？看起來Pages像是固定/靜態的頁面，Posts就是一般的日誌貼文，無意連到WP Codex說明文件中有個段落『貼文最佳實務』，寫得相當有趣，推一下！

要使用段落標題，段落分明，圖片或超鍊結要加上ALT或TITLE屬性保持可讀性，使用HTML，運用圖片與影片等等，這些我想都沒啥爭議。倒是有幾點值得討論，相互間也有微妙的關係。

『考慮你的讀者』與『貼文之前想清楚』這兩點有關聯性。雖然在部落格上發洩不滿很常見，不過你不知道會給誰看到，有時候還是得謹慎些，想說些比較爭議性或情緒性的話時，可以使用匿名的方式發布，但這似乎不適用架設站台或租賃主機代管的人。

Consider your readers

Perhaps this sounds weird, but consider who needs to know about your blog before you tell them about your new blogging hobby. Will you be able to write freely if you tell them? How much should you let your readers know about you? Is it ok if your boss or girlfriend reads your posts? If you don’t want them to read, take anonymity measures accordingly.

Think before you post

Ranting on blogs is commonplace today, but take a moment and think about what you are writing. Remember, once it is out there, it can be seen by many and crawled by search engines; and taking things back is harder once it is public. Take a moment to read what you’ve written before hitting the Publish button. When you are ready, share it with the world.

但是，作者又提出『不要太小心』，也不要『隱藏情緒』，認為這樣無法讓讀者瞭解你，至於如何拿捏就看個人吧！段落中提到不要貼上長篇大論，吹噓自己如何在幾分鐘內修理水龍頭，妙呀！不過依我看來，如果你圖文並茂說明如何修理水龍頭，我想還是會有人閱讀，對象是想表現自己DIY功力的丈夫們…

Don’t play too safe

Talk about the real you. Readers aren’t impressed by how big your house is, which cool club you belong to, or what the weather is in your hometown. Don’t be a bore and put a long post on how you fixed the leaking tap in minutes. Readers don’t care about braggers, they care about the real you–how you feel, what gets you excited, why you are the person you are. But if achievements are all that you can talk about, you will bore your readers.

Don’t hide your emotions

Tempting as it might be, don’t hide your real emotions. After all that is what a blog is about. If you want, you can stay anonymous and voice your feelings on whatever you are passionate about. You might have strong views on various subjects but let your readers know your passion. What is passion worth if you can’t even share it? You’ll actually love the discussions it can lead to. The discussions will broaden your own thinking and you might end up making some really good friends.

Keep writing

Don’t stop blogging. If you don’t have anything to write about, chances are, you are still holding back. Let loose. Perhaps surf more blogs and maybe you’ll get an idea. You can write about your friends, complain about your boss, or simply rant about what’s gone wrong. Yet if nothing else works, just write a review on the latest movie, book, or product. Easy actually.
